Dora the Explorer Live-A Fan Favorite

Dora the Explorer Live! has been playing to rave reviews, cementing the loyalty of past fans and bringing new fans into the fold as well. After a successful tour of North America, Dora the Explorer Live! Search for the City of Lost Toys has begun a spring 2010 tour of Australia where the television show is the number 1 ranked program for preschool children under the age of 4 years. The live show plays four times daily to packed audiences, totaling 99,000 attendees per day.

The co-creator of Dora the Explorer, Chris Gifford, played a large part in the creation of the popular character over 10 years ago. He says he got the idea for Dora by watching the inquisitive mannerisms of his own two children as they tried to “navigate their world.”

Mr. Gifford is quoted as saying, “We wanted to create a show that teaches little kids problem-solving skills. Preschoolers are our least powerful citizens. They can't reach the light switch. They have trouble pouring the milk on their cereal. They're faced with obstacles throughout their day and it can get pretty discouraging. Problem-solving strategies like stopping to think, asking for help, and using what you know are modeled in every Dora show. We are extremely proud of how successful we have been in getting kids off the couch, up and moving!”

Dora, the 7 year-old Latina star of the show, leads the interactive live show, bringing along her friends Boots the monkey, Diego, and others for an adventure that parents can enjoy alongside their children. The live show is in two acts and filled with songs, dancing, and costumed characters so spectacular audiences cannot help but be captivated by them.

Through the adventure of Dora the Explorer Live!, Dora asks for help from the audience in math, language, music, and logic necessary to help her make her way through numerous locations, including the pyramid of numbers, a mixed-up jungle, and Osito, the fabled City of Lost Toys.

Parents hail Dora the Explorer Live! as one of the greatest events they have ever brought their children to see. Many say that it is the only time they have seen their fidgety 3 year-olds sit still for a full 90 minutes because they are so familiar with the cartoon television show that they know what to expect and are waiting for each moment.
